  1. The Binex distribution

  3. The Binex distribution is a mixture between a deterministic distribution (concentrated in a single point) and a translated exponential distribution.

  5. This distribution is useful for modeling delays in an activity duration. If no delay occurs, the variable is equal to the base estimate.

  7. In the Binex distribution the key numbers, 窶彗窶, 窶彙窶 and 窶彡窶 are interpreted as follows:

  9.     窶彗窶    =    The probability of exceeding 窶彙窶.
  10.     窶彙窶    =    The minimum value.
  11.     窶彡窶    =    The 50%-fractile in the distribution given that the value exceeds 窶彙窶.

  13. To get a sensible distribution the specified values must satisfy:

  19. Values failing to meet these conditions are adjusted by DynRisk as follows:

  21. If 窶彗窶 < 0, then 窶彗窶 is replaced by 0.

  23. If 窶彗窶 > 1, then 窶彗窶 is replaced by 1.

  25. If 窶彙窶 > 窶彡窶, then 窶彙窶 and 窶彡窶 are interchanged.

  27. If 窶彙窶 = 窶彡窶, then the Binex distribution is replaced by a deterministic distribution concentrated in 窶彙窶.
